茅野市の古い一軒家の一部を画家のためのアトリエとギャラリーに改修した。 昔は上で蚕を飼っていたという古い天井を取ると大きな梁が現れた。 いつの頃かは分からないが濡れ縁にガラス戸が建付けられて室内が広がっていたのを利用して、明り障子をガラス戸の内側まで移動して二重窓とし、断熱効果を高めた。床下、外壁、天井裏には断熱材を入れて、熱環境の対策の全くされていない古い民家の一部を過ごしやすい場所に変えた。 今回は手を付けなかった玄関と古いガラス入り引戸でつながるギャラリーは、書籍の棚と絵を展示できる壁面と収納庫で囲まれており、天井高を抑えて白い平天井とし、照明ダクトを設置した。 大きな絵、小さな絵を描くアトリエは見事な丸太の梁を現わしとし、小屋裏に開いていた窓からの自然光をアトリエに上から落ちる光として活用した。大きな絵を描く際には少し離れたところから見ながら作成できるように、小さな絵はカウンターテーブルの上で描けるように、アトリエ内部の配置を考えた。

Part of an old house in Chino was renovated into a studio and gallery for a painter. The old ceiling, where silkworms were once kept above, was removed to reveal a large beam. The glass doors were installed on the wet-edge, and the room had been expanded, so we moved the “akari-shyoji”light shades to the inside of the glass doors and made them double-paned to improve thermal insulation. Insulation was placed under the floor, exterior walls, and ceiling, transforming a part of the old house that had no thermal environment measures at all into a comfortable place to live. The gallery, which is connected to the entrance through an old sliding glass door that was not touched this time, is surrounded by book shelves, a wall where paintings can be displayed, and a storage room. The ceiling height was reduced to a white flat ceiling, and lighting ducts were installed. The atelier for painting large and small pictures is made of magnificent log beams, and natural light from the window in the back of the shed is used as light falling down from above into the atelier. The interior arrangement of the studio was designed so that large paintings could be created while viewing them from a short distance away, and small paintings could be painted on the counter table.

玄関から古いガラス引戸を開けると小さなギャラリー 大きな平屋の住宅の、アトリエとギャラリーの空間以外の部分は和室のつながる広い間取りだが、今回手を加えられていない。古いままの玄関から入り、ガラス引戸を開けギャラリーに入る。
Enter through the front door and open the old sliding glass door to find a small gallery. Except for the atelier and gallery space, the rest of the house is a large floor plan of a large one-story house with Japanese-style rooms connected to each other, which has not been modified this time. Entering through the old entranceway, one enters the gallery through sliding glass doors. |

ギャラリー ギャラリーには固定棚が設置され本や小さな作品が置かれている。右手奥、蒲鉾形の下がり壁の奥にアトリエがある。

収納庫 ギャラリー横は絵画の収納庫となっており８０号の絵も収納できるようにした。

アトリエ内部 アトリエ天井の丸太梁の下に以前は天井があり、その上は蚕だなであった時期もあると言う。右上、蚕だなに付いていた窓が、絵画制作アトリエに上部から光を注ぐ開口部として活用された。窓の古いガラスにはその当時の模様が入っている。
Studio interior The studio ceiling was once under a log beam. The window used in the upper right silkworm tannery was reused as an opening to bring light into the studio from above. The old glass of the window retains its original pattern. |

アトリエ 元々は縁側の内側にあった明り障子を半間外側に移動してガラス戸と障子による二重窓を構成し断熱効果を期待した。大きな絵を描くための台が床より少し上に壁に沿って回っている。 アトリエの壁面は画家の希望で一部色が変えられた。
Atelier The original sliding paper door on the inside of the porch was moved 91 cm outward and placed next to the old glass door to form a double window with a glass door and shoji screens to ensure thermal insulation. A painting shelves was placed along the wall, slightly above the floor. The walls of the studio were partially changed in color at the request of the artist. |

二方を古い明り障子に囲われた空間 正面に作業カウンター、垂れ壁の向こうに収納が見える。濃い色の柱は以前からのもの、明るい色の柱は今回入れられたもの。以前は天井に隠れていた上部の梁は力強く迫力がある。
The space is surrounded on two sides by “Akari-shoji”old light shades. A work counter can be seen in front, and a storage space can be seen behind the hanging wall. |

大きな梁の作る空間 このくらい大きな梁は都内ではなかなか見られないが、この地方の古い民家ではごく普通のことなのかも知れない。正面カウンターは小さな絵を描くために作られた。

南側の庭よりアトリエ内部を見る もともと濡れ縁だった床の外に付けられた古いサッシュの内側に隣接させて明り障子を移動して二重窓を構成し断熱性能を確保した。 この空間で気持ちよく制作活動をされることを楽しみにしている。
